# Create team

> Create a team with the `addTeam` GraphQL mutation.

Use the `addTeam` mutation to create a team. You become the team's admin. Teams own fabrics and projects, so you typically create a team before you create those resources.

## Arguments

**name** `string` *required*

Name of the new team, for example `analytics_team`. Teams cannot be renamed later, so choose the
name carefully.

## Response

**data.addTeam.\_id** `string`

ID of the team. The create project mutation needs this ID.

**data.addTeam.name** `string`

Name of the team. The create fabric API and the add users to teams API need this name.

**data.addTeam.teamKind** `string`

Kind of team, for example `ProphecyManaged`.
