# Get current user

> Return the account that owns the access token, including its user ID.

The call identifies you from your access token, so it takes no parameters. Use the returned `id` wherever a call asks for your user ID, and pass it in quotes.

Check the `type` field to find out whether your account is a Prophecy administrator for the whole instance. `ClusterAdmin` means it is. The [add users to teams API](https://docs.prophecy.ai/api-reference/users/invite-users.md) uses this in `isRequesterGlobalAdmin`.
