# Prophecy File System

> Learn about the built-in Prophecy File System connection

The **Prophecy File System (PFS)** is a file connection that Prophecy provides automatically — there are no credentials or settings to configure, and you can't create one yourself. It stores files in storage that Prophecy manages, scoped to your fabric, and backs the DataBox: upload files from the DataBox page or the canvas, then browse, read, or write them from your pipelines like any other file connection.

## Feature support

The table below outlines whether the connection supports certain Prophecy features.

| Feature | Supported |
| - | - |
| Read data with a [Source gem](/data-analysis/gems/source-target/source-target) | Yes |
| Write data with a [Target gem](/data-analysis/gems/source-target/source-target) | Yes |
| Browse data in the [Environment browser](/data-analysis/development/studio/studio#sidebar) | Yes |
| Trigger scheduled pipeline upon [file arrival or change](/data-analysis/production/scheduling/triggers#file-arrival-or-change-trigger) | No |
| Index files in the [Knowledge Graph](/data-analysis/ai/knowledge-graph/knowledge-graph) | Yes |

## Connection parameters

Unlike other file connections, there's nothing to configure. Prophecy provisions exactly one `ProphecyFileSystem` connection per fabric, and every team member with access to the fabric uses it automatically.

Everyone with access to the fabric can read, replace, and delete every file in the connection. To browse and manage these files, use [DataBox](/data-analysis/getting-started/databox).

<Info>
  A fabric can't have more than one Prophecy File System connection, and the connection name
  `ProphecyFileSystem` is reserved — you can't name a connection of your own the same thing.
