DataGPT connect Prophecy to Claude, ChatGPT, or Microsoft Pilot. Once connected, you can ask Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot to build and run pipelines, chart your data, browse your warehouse, and work with files in DataBox, all without leaving the chat. Results come from Prophecy, not from the AI client. In Claude and ChatGPT, pipeline canvases, data tables, analysis dashboards, and file previews appear directly in the chat as interactive views, each with an Open in Prophecy link to continue the work in Prophecy. In Microsoft Copilot, results return in the chat along with an Open in Prophecy link. DataGPT is added to your AI client as a custom connector that signs in with your Prophecy account. The connector URL is your Prophecy URL followed by /datagpt/mcp:

Supported clients

You can use DataGPT from:
  • Claude on the web (claude.ai)
  • Claude Desktop
  • ChatGPT
  • Microsoft Copilot

Connect DataGPT to Claude

To connect from Claude:
  1. In Claude, open Settings > Connectors.
  2. Click Add, and then select Custom connector.
  3. Enter a name for the connector, such as DataGPT, and the connector URL:
  4. Leave the other settings at their defaults, and then click Add.
  5. Click Connect. Claude opens Prophecy in your browser.
  6. If you aren’t signed in to Prophecy, sign in.
  7. Review the permissions that DataGPT requests, and then click Allow access.
DataGPT is now connected to Claude.
On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner must first add the custom connector to your organization. After that, members open Settings > Connectors and click Connect next to DataGPT. Each member signs in with their own Prophecy account, so DataGPT has only the access that member has in Prophecy.

Connect DataGPT to ChatGPT

To connect from ChatGPT:
  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings and scroll to Plugins.
  2. Click Browse directory, click Add, and then select Add custom MCP server.
  3. Enter a name for the plugin, such as DataGPT.
  4. Enter the connector URL:
  5. Leave the OAuth settings at their defaults.
  6. Click Create.
  7. In the dialog that opens, click Connect DataGPT. If you aren’t signed in to Prophecy, sign in.
  8. Review the permissions that DataGPT requests, and then click Allow access.
ChatGPT installs the DataGPT plugin.

Connect DataGPT to Microsoft Copilot Studio

To use Prophecy with Microsoft Copilot Studio, add the Prophecy MCP server as a tool in a Copilot Studio agent. For Microsoft’s reference on MCP tools, see Connect your agent to an existing Model Context Protocol (MCP) server.
In Copilot Studio, Prophecy results appear as text and links. Interactive views, such as the pipeline canvas, don’t render in the chat. To see them, open the link to Prophecy.

Prerequisites

Before you add the tool, make sure you have:
  • Access to Copilot Studio in a browser at copilotstudio.microsoft.com.
  • A Power Platform environment with a Dataverse data store.
  • The System Administrator or System Customizer security role in that environment.
  • An agent in that environment. To create one, click Agents, then click Create blank agent.

Add Prophecy as a tool

To use Prophecy with Microsoft Copilot Studio, add the Prophecy MCP server as a tool in a Copilot Studio agent. You can then ask the agent to analyze data, explore tables, and build and run pipelines in Prophecy.
  1. In Copilot Studio, open your agent and click Tools.
  2. Click Add a tool.
  3. In the window that opens, click Add > Model Context Protocol (MCP).
  4. Enter a name for the tool in the Server name field, such as “DataGPT.”
  5. Describe what Prophecy does in the Server description field. The agent uses this description to decide when to call Prophecy, so name the tasks you want it to handle. Use text along the following lines:
  6. In Server URL, enter https://app.prophecy.ai/datagpt/mcp.
  7. Under Authentication, select OAuth 2.0, then select Dynamic discovery.
  8. Click Create, then click Next.
  9. In the Add tool dialog, select Create a new connection, and sign in to Prophecy when prompted.
  10. Once in the Prophecy permissions page, approve access for Copilot Studio.
  11. Click Add to agent.
  12. To add the new tool to your agent, click Tools.
  13. In the window that opens, click MCP, scroll to the tool you created, and click it to add it to the agent.

Permissions you grant

The consent page lists the access DataGPT receives. You must grant all permissions together. To learn what DataGPT can access and how it handles your data, see Permissions and data handling.

Workspace and branch

DataGPT works in your current workspace, which is the team you last selected with the workspace switcher in Prophecy. New projects are created in this workspace, and DataGPT uses the workspace’s default fabric and its DataBox unless you’re working in a project with its own fabric. To work in a different workspace, switch workspaces in Prophecy, then continue in the chat. Changes that DataGPT makes to projects are saved to the project’s default development branch. You can’t choose a different branch from the chat.

Reconnect DataGPT

If your Prophecy session expires or is revoked, DataGPT responds with instructions to reconnect instead of running your request.
  1. Reconnect DataGPT from your AI client’s settings: Connectors in Claude, or Plugins in ChatGPT.
  2. Return to the chat and ask the AI client to try again, or start a new chat.

Sign out

Ask the AI client to sign you out of Prophecy. DataGPT revokes its access to your account. To disconnect completely, also remove the connector from your AI client’s settings.
