Attach files
When you attach a file to the chat, DataGPT uploads it to DataBox:- If you’re working in a project, the file goes into the project’s DataBox folder.
- Otherwise, the file goes into your personal folder.
Upload large files
Your AI client may not pass large attachments to DataGPT. If that happens, DataGPT opens the DataBox view so you can drag the file in directly. Files uploaded this way can be up to 2 GB each.Browse DataBox
Ask DataGPT to open DataBox to browse your files in the chat. The DataBox view shows your personal files, project folders, team members’ folders, and connections, and includes a search bar. In the DataBox view, you can:- Drag files in to upload them.
- Select a file to preview it.
- Select a table on a connection to explore its data.
- Add a connection.
Preview and download files
Select a file in DataBox to preview it in the chat. DataGPT supports previews of PDF, Excel, CSV, image, and Markdown files. Password-protected PDF and Excel files can’t be previewed. Other file types show a download card instead. Select a table on a warehouse connection to open the data explorer, where you can browse rows and inspect column information. When you ask to download a file, DataGPT creates a download link that expires after 15 minutes.Extract tables from Excel files
DataGPT detects tables in Excel workbooks and lets you review them before extracting their data into warehouse tables. XLSX and XLSM files are supported. To use a legacy XLS file, save it as XLSX first.- Attach the workbook and ask DataGPT to analyze it.
- In the extraction view, review the detected tables. Switch between the Source view, which highlights table ranges in the workbook, and the Datasets view, which lists the detected tables.
- If necessary, adjust a table’s range by dragging its corners. Mark or unmark tables to include them in the extraction. Changes save automatically.
- Select Extract Tables to create a warehouse table for each selected table.
